About Tee

About Tee Life for Tee, the owner of Angkor Holidays has been a challenging one. He was born in 1979, the year that Vietnam overthrew the Khmer Rouge regime. Pol Pot, the leader of the Khmer Rouge, took power in 1975. He declared that year to be ‘Year Zero’—a new beginning whereby he forced city dwellers to move to the countryside to work in collective farms. The effect of this cruel experiment which included malnutrition, slave labour and executions, led to the deaths of close to 2 million people. This was a terrifying period of time for all Cambodians and in order to avoid being forced to become one of the soldiers, Tee’s father had to move the family from one place to another.

After high school, Tee realized the importance of learning English and decided to go to a private school to learn English. Once he finished school, he decided to go to Siem Reap to find a job. He worked as a motor driver for about 2 years and became a member of a taxi company. With this membership, he has been able to use his own car and 5% of the money that he makes helps mine victims in Cambodia.
Helping people have a great experience in Cambodia is what Tee strives for. He loves sharing his vast knowledge of the area, its people and their history. In turn, he also appreciates having the opportunity to communicate with people from many different walks of life who share their knowledge of their own country’s political, economical, and social issues, which are so different from his own.
Apart from Tee’s personal approach, his vast knowledge of the area as well as his flexible itineraries is what makes his tours so successful. You can choose any of the itineraries listed on the site or make one of your own!
